I prefer Mi Box over FireTV personally. A lot of that has to do with me not having/wanting Amazon Prime. On the FireTV, it's OS is based on Android but it's UI is very Prime heavy and wants the user to use its services first and foremost (understandable and even useful for those who prefer Prime)

As for the Mi Box, look for the model number MDZ-16-AB. That's the only version you want. That is the US version. The international version (AA) is not, nor any others.

Edit: if you do decide for FireTV for Kodi (exodus), than look at the FireTV box. It should run better than the Fire Stick. You would have to sideload Kodi with it and everytime there are any updates to Kodi. The process shouldn't be too hard though, just check online for the steps and where to download the APK.

I bought mine off mi.com for $69 USD each, sent them to mymallbox.com and had them shipped over with the cheapest USPS option (high chance of no import charges). Came to $100 CAD each after everything.
