MiBox 4K, Denon 2312 and Panasonic TX48AS640 - how to connect

by mrqasq

Hi, I connected Mibox via HDMI to tv and it works. But I also have a 5.1 cinema audio with TAGA TAV606+TSW200+Denon 2312. How can I get audio via Denon? Should I connect it with "audio jack" or can I connect Mibox via HDMI to Denon, and than Denon to TV? Will this work?!

Your TV and Denon receiver are both capable of ARC (audio return channel). It looks like your TVs ARC HDMI port is HDMI 2. Plug your Mi Box into your TV to get 4k DRM content and plug your HDMI 2 to your receiver. I believe you will need an HDMI w/ Ethernet cable for this to work properly with your receiver. You can then get sound from your TV to your receiver. Review your reciever's manual for proper setup.

Yes, Connect HDMI from Mi Box to Denon to TV. If in the future though if you upgrade to a 4k TV then you will also need a new audio receiver as the current one does not have any HDMI 2.0 ports and cannot carry a 4k signal.

Edit: I type things wrong too early sleepy. HDMI 2.0 is only required for HDCP 2.2 content which would be for some 4k content from Netflix and some other sources.

This is exactly how you should ideally be connecting everything.

Keep in mind though, your receiver does not support HDCP 2.2. HDCP 2.2 is required for DRM 4K content, like Netflix. So if you want DRM 4K like Netflix, you will need to go Mi Box -> TV -> Receiver. Make sure you are using the HDMI ARC port on the TV (appears to be Input 2). You may also need to configure ARC on the receiver.

The 3.5mm jack is also optical out if you want to go to strait to the receiver with a toslink to 3.5mm cable

Will I be than forced to always power on Denon to hear anything? Ideally I would like to put MiBox "audio" into TV, but than, when the time comes for "home cinema with family" to just turnon Denon and give them sounds a little boost. How will you repspond ? :)
