Can anyone post the Feb 15th apk?
A few Qs:
Nvidia better get on the ball and roll out the DVR features of Nougat that they left out of the latest firmware update!
Does HDHomerun support DVB-S2?
Just updated my shield TV 2017 - asked to add channels from a new source "Network Tuner" and found the HDHomerun channels (without the app) and added them to my guide with a new icon.
New channels have the option of pause, rewind, etc and DVR
Problem is that I have no sound with these newfound channels. I use a USB audio dongle to drive a small amplifier with RCA jacks. It tells me to enable surround sound to get audio - which I do - to which the error the changes to "Cannot play audio. Please try another TV"
...The channels published through the HDHomerun app are still in the channel guide. Those work just fine.
Update - those same channels don't work via HDMI audio to my Samsung KS8000... same error. No clue how to fix any of this.
If you don't have sound - drop a line in this thread: https://forums.geforce.com/default/topic/994786/shield-tv/lack-of-ac3-audio-codec-impacting-new-live-channels-update/
Maybe I'm missing something here. This still requires a hdhomerun device? We still have to wait for direct USB TV tuner support for a shield tv.

Is there a way to input IPTV channels into live channels with this network tuner... Cuz before there was no way of activating the LIVE CHANNELS app
Nice.
Damn... Cant try this on the mibox
Any updates on the "cannot play audio, move to another TV" issue? I am shocked they launched the HDHomeRun feature with this issue present. It seems to be affecting a VERY large number of people.
We saw the writing on the wall about a year ago (Jan 6, 2016). I had broken it down to other redditors how SiliconDust put the ball in Google's court to add the DVR function to Live Channels.
Pretty interesting to look back on: https://www.reddit.com/r/Android/comments/3zs935/android_set_top_box_lets_you_stream_and_record/cypfra2/
This "cannot play audio, please move to another tv" error is some bullshit. Get your shit together google.
Hmmm...nothing about supporting time shifting?? Also, it doesn't support having multiple tuners yet. Hopefully soon enough.
Curious if there in anything that looks like a USB drive that actually is a network drive? Including something that is actually using cloud storage?
This should be embedded inside Android TVs like the Sony TVs. So I get a DVR with the TV. Then no SD box.
Then Google Add the assistant able to control. So I can just say to my watch record the warriors game.
Noob here, so an HDHR box is a replacement for a digital antenna?
So here is my question. I have an antenna but it gets the best reception in my office (the attic). I was planning on getting an HDHomeRun and connecting it to Plex on my computer, but that limits myself to DVR only. Does this mean I can still send my DVR'd stuff to Plex but still watch live channels on my Shield (2017)?
So I have a external HDD attached as a readyShare via my router. Will the Shield be able to record tv to a network drive ? Also is there any chromecast support to watch live tv or recorded tv from the HDHR ?

Just read the article, it wont record to network storage. Only local storage.
Just tested this at home, seems to work but my guide data for the CW channel is in spanish and shows weak signal, so that's a bummer. But! You can timeshift even the Hdhomerun channel source, don't even need to add the network tuner to make that part work!! Can't DVR those though unsurprisingly
I guess it's time to move my external 8 TB drive back to the Shield as Adoptable storage.
Does anyone have any idea how much space we can expect this to take up with the Extend encoding to h264? Just wondering what size drives I really need for fairly modest recording.
no kidding, hmmm. and I just bought plex pass.
Doesn't seem to be working for me. I supposedly have the newest version of Live TV in my Shield 2017 16GB. I had it setup previously with hdhomerun. I though maybe the hdhomerun app was interfearing so I uninstalled that. Now the live tv channels app is missing too... How do I get the live channels app back...
Just installed live channels update. Ran the network channel. There is no info in the guide.
Anyone having issues with the wrong logos showing up? Some channels like the discovery channel will have ESPN logos next to them. Where can we go for support?
So... would this work in the UK?
I want this to work and be seamless so bad. I've run a hdhr at home for a year and it's been great: works on cheap Chinese kodi boxes, kodi on Windows gaming htpc, cell phones, shield. It just works, and it has to have 99% serviceability due to the family.
I've got a pretty good homelab. Pfsense on bare metal, freenas on bare metal, some poe cameras and enterprises switches and wap. I'm middle of the road talent wise, but my system works and is secure.
Yesterday I dropped the $60 for the hdhr dvr. Tried installing on freenas jail. Couldn't get it to work. Tried using the windows AP for NAS install, but there's no way in he'll I'm turn in ppnp and giving it root ssh access into my nas. The aps don't fully work I do not trust it with my Nas. Tried every install option and couldn't get dvr working. I really want to just keep it native hdhr or this Google channels because I don't run plex and don't want to many extra aps, on account of the family.
After upgrading my hdhr firmware in the hopes of getting drv working, now my regular hdhr tv quality is way worse. Audio issues every time a commercial comes on, pixelation. I had no problems on the original firmware. Now I have no DVR and less serviceable hdhr.
Here's what kills me. Why do I need a 500 gb usb 3 HD on my shield? I don't need 500gb worth of dvr. And I don't want and ugly HDD plugged into next to my shield. Why can't I just use a 128 gb usb drive? Or even better a flash drive. Hell I don't even want my shield to be my dvr, not what it was built for. Why can't I get a simple program to run in a jail on my NAS, or even in a VM in Ubuntu server 16.06? Another option would be to mount an nfs or samba share through the shield settings and use that. Anything but a big ugly HDD.
I get that it's beta. My whole ecosystem is beta and open source shit. I love HDHR and I have a lot of respect for the team. But I adopted and for the DVR service like 18 months after launch and development and support seems very slim. Guides are non existent. And repositories with working solutions are light. I'm not big and putting a bunch of stuff from random dudes GITs all over my network. I just figured being a company that produces hardware, there'd be a bit more support.
I really want to recomend hdhr to friends and family and really proselytize my friends and family to screw the cable company box racket. But that's still a long ways off.
I'm grateful to the HDHR team and will continue to support the project. I'm just bummed that it isn't more serviceable and turn key by this point. I'd almost hope they get bought by Google, but with how Google discards otherwise awesome and promising projects with no support or then folds into something intrusive and useless (looking at you Google voice/hangouts) I'd rather see HDHR break into the mainstream on its own. But when a guy with a 5 year old homelab can't get the DVR running, that time is still a ways off.
And people will still say Google has abandoned the platform
