ShieldTV USB Audio Question

by bentripin

So I upgraded my MiBox to a ShieldTV, and the one thing I am missing is an analogue output for my Multi-Zone amp..

Does anyone know if a USB DAC Sound card can output stereo while Surround Sound still passes out HDMI? It worked on the MiBox, allowing me to play music on the AndroidTv that plays through all the speakers in the house.

I dont really care if the DAC cant handle surround sound sources, its just for music.. I wont be playing a movie out on the back patio or in the garage.. I dont want to loose the HDMI 5.1 Audio feature that remixes all stereo into 5.1 for the main speakers tho, I'm loving not having to switch my AVR to ProLogic for Stereo sources.

Really trying to avoid an HDMI Audio Splitter, and I wont need one if the USB Sound card will work at the same time as HDMI Audio

Cheers, -n

It will not do that. When I was using a USB DAC due to my TV having horrible audio ports it would only come out of one output. So it's either HDMI or the DAC, but not both at the same time.

You can set it so that the DAC is always stereo, and HDMI is always surround though.
