how do the 2 compare? any differences?
how do the 2 compare? any differences?
Not really easily comparable. Best analogy I can see is that the SHIELD is essentially a Chromecast Ultra with a remote and a controller and the ability to run Android TV apps.
Maybe some more specific questions would be helpful?
Think of it like this. Chromecast can have stuff casted to it. Shield TV is all built in as a UI PLUS has Chromecast built in
Kind of a massive difference between the two products.
Shield TV is an Android TV box, which means it runs apps and games entirely on its own.
Chromecast Ultra doesn't have a user interface or a remote. It's just a receiver for video or audio that you cast from another device.
Some people are happy with the casting experience, but I personally find that using a dedicated remote is more enjoyable.
Edit: I should mention that the Shield TV also functions as a Chromecast in addition to running its own apps.
One difference in the Ultra's favor is that it can play Youtube HDR while the Shield can't. Other than that, pretty much everything else I can think of favors the Shield if you enjoy the Android TV UI.
Chromecasts need another device to trigger and control it.
AndroidTV (Shield) is standalone and can run Android apps.
lol
Chromecast is a car - SHIELD is a vehicle that can be a car+truck+boat+plane
