I know that I can chromecast audio to Mi box, but can I stream it via Bluetooth if I want? Sometimes it's just easier. It will be connected via toslink to stereo receiver for sound output.

I don't think. Assuming an Android device and the thing you want to play isn't Chromecast supported, airaudio may be your best solution. You do need root on your Android device- but not mibox. It will send all or any audio from the device to the mi box over Chromecast or Kodi. They have a trial that adds beeps to the audio stream after a few minutes. Not a cheap app but very useful IMO.
