HDHomeRun + Live Channels: Audio Not Working

by Zachavm

I have seen many people comment on having the problem I am of Audio not working on HDHR channel feeds the new Live Channels Update. I have not found a workaround and this makes it pretty much useless.

Does anyone have an update? Any workarounds or expected update to the app?

I had the same issue and just reverted back my live channels app to use the original hdhomerunprime feed.

I had no sound until I switched my sound in the advanced audio settings to "Stereo" - and then I had to out my volume all the way up in the 50s to sound like it used to in the 20s.

You need to report this stuff to google since they build the app.

I just ordered the HDHR Prime to use with a Comcast cablecard. I hope this isn't a persistent problem.

I'm assuming it's a Shield TV? Set your TV to accept Bitstream/Dolby Digital audio instead of PCM.

Shield TV can't decode AC3 audio streams.

I'm in this boat. No simple solutions on the horizon, it seems. Right now the Live Channels app requires you to enable Surround Sound mode, which AFAIK is actually a switch to pass through the raw audio directly to your TV for decoding.

That's no good for me, as I'm using a USB audio decoder (which works great otherwise) so I'm SOL until they remove the requirement. I could use the HDHomeRun DVR software instead, but it's annoying to have to spend $60 on some software I'll (hopefully) only be using for a little while.

I had a similar issue and fixed it by installing the HDHR app from the google store and turning off surround sound in the audio system settings (set it to "Never").

Sorry, not an answer to your question, but i also have a question for you. I have been curious about HDHomeRun and my question is, will me connecting my antenna to it give me more channels than i'm already getting with my antenna directly connected to my TV?
