I've long been looking for a device that can run Netflix (in at least 1080p) + streaming media from a local server + Retroarch (at least up to N64).
It seems that the only possibility is the nVidia Shield TV, which is expensive as hell in Portugal.
Is there no other choice? The WeTek Hub and Mi Box seem to work fine for Kodi and suchlike, but I've been getting mixed reviews at best with Retroarch. Case in point, my Pine64 refuses to play sound through retroarch for no discernible reason (sounds plays elsewhere just fine).
Any help? Thanks!
Keep in mind that the WeTek doesn't run Android TV. It runs a custom UI on top of regular Android.
Right now there are only 5 devices available that run Android TV (and smart TVs that have it built in):
Nexus Player
Razer Forge
Nvidia Shield
Xiaomi Mi Box
ADT-1
From those the only ones that are readily available are the Shield and the Mi Box.
I have a Mi Box and Retroarch worked just fine, the problem is that the UI is not meant for use with the remote so you need to connect a keyboard and mouse at least the first time so you can set up a controller. As for differences between the Shield and the Mi Box regarding Retroarch, it should be the same experience, depending on what consoles you want to emulate. The Shield is more powerful so it probably performs better with things like PS1 or N64 (I didn't try so take this with a pinch of salt).
