Mi Box USB ethernet dongle testing

If you're looking for a USB ethernet that works, I've been testing a couple. I've tested three different USB 2.0 ethernet dongles that seemed to work only to stop working after a couple days. A reboot of the Mi Box would fix it but it would stop working again after a couple days.

This dongle has been going for a week now on two of my Mi Box's with zero issues with its connection. I only have an ethernet cable hooked up to it. No other connections. I suggest if you're going to add onto it you get the external power cable for a little more juice.

Just helping anyone out with a Mi Box who wants a good ethernet connection.

Edit: If you're wondering what speed you can get with this dongle, I just did a speedtest on my Mi Box using speedtest.net. Sideloaded the APK. It's sideways on my TV due to not being Android TV compatible. Had to use a mouse to get it started:

I have 500/50 internet speed so this dongle took half of my download speed which is pretty good. More than enough for any 4k movie... even uncompressed.

Well, I just bought that a few days ago, so let's see how it goes. BTW, that's a USB 3.0, not 2.0 as you stated

I couldn't use sleep with my mibox because it would cut USB power and reset any static info for the connection. I've had most success with axis 88179, ES file transfer showing over 20MB/s. The 88772A wouldn't exceed 2MB/s, these were on fw699 not sure if 750 has improved anything.

Plug and play, it just switched over to wired connection automatically.

I'm using the Apple USB 2 10/100 ethernet connector. Works fine. I've had to reboot about once a week or so - YouTube seems to come up blank, although Netflix comes up fine.

How do you know if the connection is going through ethernet? I have an Anker ethernet adaptor set up and plugged in but when I turn WiFi off on the Mi Box I'm offline. I don't see any ethernet options in the settings menu, am I missing something?

I remember reading how some folks were saying that they tested the speed on ethernet was actually worse than when it was on wifi. Any comments on that?
