How to connect a PS4 controller to a device with Android TV 6.0?

by redditvanmark

When I try to put my PS4 in pairing mode by holding the Share+PS button for a few seconds. The Android TV picks it up "Wireless Controller", when I try to connect to it, it says connecting but never seems to be able to complete. Did anyone else succeed in connecting a PS4 controller to Android TV?

Make sure your controller's model ends in 1U. The second generation is not compatible with Bravia TVs. Maybe they are not compatible with your box.

Sony TV and now Shield TV support PS4 (Dualshock) controllers natively, Mi Box does not, they need to add the relevant drivers for it.

That's weird because I was able to pair my Dualshock 4 controller no problem

I had that issue. Restart your box and try it again. Worked right away after a full restart.

Shot in the dark, you're using a Mi Box..? Read somewhere that DS4's aren't compatible with it.. I know the Rii i8+ Bluetooth remote I bought wouldn't pair with either of mine, had to get the 2.4Ghz model. They seemingly blocked a lot of BT functionality on the Mi Box for some reason?

Try this: Theres similar issue with a Logitech Bluetooth mouse. I forget the model number. But it did the same thing when trying to pair. The trick was to back out as it's trying to connect. It was easy with a mouse because you could just wiggle the mouse and then back out with the remote as soon as you saw the cursor move. It would then be added and work as it should.

Which device? Mine will connect to my Nexus player after a few tries, but it does not work correctly afterwards, even after using the Bluetooth autoconnect app. This is on the most recent updates, in the beta program.

I've been spending the last few days researching this. From what I've read, the Nvidia devices are the only Android devices that work without needing any setup.

I got it to work on my phone using Bluetooth autoconnect. Let me know if anyone needs specifics on how I got it to work.
