Nvidia Shield (2015) and Comcast Xfinity Subscriber - to go apps (HBOGO, Showtime Anytime) question.

by JumboMcNasty

So literally just connect my Nvidia shield and tried putting on HBOGO for sesame street for my toddler. Spoiler alert xfinity blocks using the login info. Apparently they do this for a lot if not all these types of apps.

Does anyone have a list of any that work with xfinity login. Also a list of which where sideloading is a successful workaround. I'd like to avoid the trial and error if I could before I start bigger projects like putting emulators and kodi on this thing.

Thanks.

Try the "Roku workaround". Instead of choosing AndroidTV on the HBOGO site, choose Roku, then Xfinity/Comcast, login with your cable login and then put the code displayed.

This worked for me with several apps that did not support AndroidTV using an AT&T Uverse login but did support Roku.

Xfinity hasn't approved Android TV as a platform for their TV anywhere apps. You'd have to subscribe to services independently or get something like PS Vue that includes basically every TV anywhere login.

Same boat, so I sideloaded the phone app and use a bluetooth mouse. Not elegant but it plays.

You should try sharing this at /r/Comcast/ too - there is no good reason that they don't allow it.
