Do Shield TV's come with the same bluetooth address? (x-post /r/shieldandroidtv)

by juiceyuh

Disclaimer: I have 3 roommates who have no idea how to use anything but the cable box. It's possible that they did something.

I have 2 shield TV 2017s.

  • One in my room pairs fine with headphones, mouse, keyboard, nvidia controller, remote. This was purchased second.
  • Second one used to have its respective devices paired fine. But currently has none. The only way I can navigate now is hardwiring the Nvidia Controller via USB.

When I go into Settings >> About >> Status it shows Bluetooth Address: Unavailable . So I'm assuming the addition of the second shield stole that Bluetooth address?

Anyone have any ideas?

I have tried:

  • Factory reset
  • Restarting
  • Pairing Nvidia accessories
  • 3rd party accessories

Are you sure that Bluetooth is actually switched on? Android will always say "Bluetooth Address: Unavailable" if Bluetooth is off, but it will show up when Bluetooth is on.

I have three shield TVs 8n my house and have had no issues with controllers or shield remote. Sounds like it's the controller or the shield. Try connecting the controller to another shield and see if it will pair. If it does, check for firmware updates, install them if they exist, then try to pair it back to where you want it.
