Anyone else have this issue? When my Shield TV crashes I have to pull the power cord to get past the boot animation. YouTube is the only app that consistently causes a crash like this. The Shield TV doesn't crash every time I use the YouTube app, but more than I'd think is reasonable. The app hasn't been updated in nearly a year.
yeah I have the shield pro 2017.. And the app has been horrible for the past few weeks
YouTube is really fucked up right now. It even doesn't work correctly on my Chromecast. I had to downgrade to an old version.
Solution that works for me is to downgrade to YouTube version 11.45.59"
i had the app crash a few times when rewinding long videos in the last week or so. nothing as major as you, just reopened the app and was good. hopefully they get it sorted out and youtube gets a nice little update soon
its my primary app, and it only ever crashes if i click on a pay to watch video, no issue otherwise.
Strange.. I use the Youtube app at least 2-3 hours a day, sometimes more. (I am a huge youtube freak, it is my "cable"). 2015 Shield non-pro. It has been some time since I have seen a crash with it.
I can say one thing though. I do think it has a lot to do with your internet connection, especially when it comes to seeking. Back when I had shitty 3Mb DSL it tended to crash sometimes when seeking and/or get stuck loading forever. But since I got 1Gb Fiber, all has been well.

Speaking for myself, shield 2015 using youtube every days, never had a crash of the app since I bought it in 2015
