Mi controller won't work with some games on MiBox3 (even though controllers are supported)

by iroQuai

Two of my games that should offer controller support (Assassins Creed: Identity and Whispering Willows) do not work with my Mi controller on MiBox3 (mdz-16-ab)

In both cases, I can use the left joystick to move around (in both menu and ingame), but none of the other buttons seem to get registered. In both cases, the Mi Remote also works kind of: directional pad is registered, and when pushing the center button, something happens (for instance, enter a submenu or perform an action). Too bad the remote doesn't have enough buttons ...

Is there anyone that has experienced this too? Is there a solution for this problem? Would love to play those games on tv!

Same problem with gem miner 2, now I come to think of it...

Is there a button mapping screen in those games, or a menu to turn on controller use in those games?

I think it is just the game's poor controller support maybe. Only games I have played with the controller are Beach Buggy Racing, Hungry Shark and Knights of the Old Republic

You're not alone.

I myself own the Nexus Player but I bought the MiBox for my Dad and his wife and then had to order the controller because to my surprise they both wanted to play games too. The whole reason I went through the hassle of buying the Mi Gamepad was to not have to worry about compatibility issues. Unfortunately there are some games that simply do not see the controller. The only button that will work is the home button. Meanwhile the remote works just fine in those games.

I don't get it.

At this point it's looking like I'm going to be eating the cost of gamepad and trying to find an ASUS gamepad like the one I use on my Nexus Player. If I can even find one.
