How to check What quality is Netflix streaming at

by dranani

I just bought a shield TV to go with my 4k TV and I'm trying to figure out if Netflix is streaming in 4k or not. Is there a way to do this with the shield?

I know that you can see info by pressing the asterisk on a Roku but can't figure it out with a shield.

Search Netflix for series of videos titled "Test Pattern". They will have a red Netflix logo. Run for a while and watch the yellow text in upper right of screen to see instant readouts of resolution, bandwidth and color depth. Typically will take a few minutes for readings to stabilize at their optimum values.

This assumes you have 1-proper Netflix subscription level, 2-Sufficient bandwidth to handle streams, 3-a device that supports HD or better streams, and, finally 4-an output device that supports all the DRM functions required by Netflix

I have a Sony 4K TV (non-Android) with HDMI-CEC connected to Nvidia Shield. If I press 'Display' button on my Sony remote while watching Netflix, it shows he video resolution.

SubElement

Plug in a keyboard and press F4. It will bring up the video stats. Resolution, bitrate etc.

When you select a show, 4K badge will only show up if it detects you can run 4K. Same with HDR. Make sure you have the Ultra HD Netflix account (highest price).

Been looking to do something similar myself but for more than Netflix. I'd kind of like something like the same thing as Amazon's firestick x-ray view. This way I can look at Netflix, DirecTV now etc
