When I power on my device there is no output to the tv. I have to hold power and then blindly hope it's on the restart prompt.

Hmm, sometimes I'll manually turn my TV on, then try hitting the home button a few times on my MiBox and it would never turn on. Lately I realized it actually is turning on but I guess I need to be patient as it just takes a little longer to turn on than I expected. I dont know if my Mibox is actually 'off' I suppose it's just sleeping. Next time try using the home button 2-4 times and just giving the Mibox a minute to react, see if it works.
Btw, I also never really use the 'power button' on the mibox remote, when Im done watching TV I usually turn it off using my TV's remote.
Also try to see if your TV has a setting for changing HDMI CEC. Try the different options available there to see if it improves.
I'm using a HDMI Matrix and getting blue screen sometimes when switching from inputs, have to reconnect the HDMI cables to get the picture back. Weird
Sounds like hdcp handshake failing.
