love the Shield box since making it my main box on big tv and moving Mibox to bedroom, but if they don't do something about there controller soon may have to switch again, totally useless.

I use the Shield as my main media center in the living room and I have only ever used the actual controller a handful of times. I just use an RF/IR remote that controls all my other things (TV, AVR, bluray, etc) and have never had a problem. And a cheap bluetooth keyboard for when I need to search / enter text / use specific keys.
I like the part where you didn't describe the issues you're having.
