Sony AndroidTV Gamepad

by dancano

I recently bought myself a Sony 55x8005c with android TV on it. I wanted to play a little bit of Telltale Games which require a Gamepad. I know not many gamepads are officially supported. The DualShock4 and the Logitech F710 seem to be some of them. But I never liked the PlayStation controllers and the Logitech seem to have connectivity issues. Is there a possibility to connect e.g. a Xbox wireless controller with an transponder like on PC? Which controller would be your best choice?

I use the 8bitdo NES30 for some light gaming and works fine for both gaming and navigation.

Xbox 360 controllers have been supported on android for a long time so those should work with the Wireless Receiver.

Sadly, you won't be able to use a usb-receiver for xbox controllers. The androidTV platform on Sony's tv's is slightly less compatible with accessories as opposed to most dedicated androidTV boxes. On that same note, the graphics processor in these tv's are rather weak. Don't expect the most smoothest of graphics. It's slightly below acceptable in my opinion. I'd go with the logitech one. I also believe there's a cheaper, also compatible controller for these tv's. Don't worry about the connectivity issues. I've used the cheaper version in a TV store surrounded by 100+ tv's and soundbars and other wireless devices. It worked fine. Don't expect you're gonna need twitch-level connection for a Telltale game. Have fun with the game nonetheless! ;)
