[Mi Box] How to connect ADB over wifi?

by Dr_Schmoctor

Following other instructions, I have:

  • Unhidden the Developer options by clicking ok multiple times on 'About' in Settings.
  • Enabled USB debugging under Developer options>Dubugging

Some instructions say there should be an option to enable ADB specifically ( which I don't see ), others mention that enabling USB Debugging also enables ADB and it should work over wifi.

Under Wifi settings, my local IP is listed as 192.168.0.170

When I try to connect with ADB

    adb connect 192.168.0.170

I get:

'unable to connect to 192.168.0.170:5555'

Connecting to my phone using ADB works fine so it doesn't seem like an issue on my computer's end.

Never got it to work. Assumed debugging over the LAN was just locked down.

I did see people posting hacked images a while back that had it enabled but never needed it that bad. It would be lovely if it became an option to could toggle on and off though, like the usb debugging.

Hi! I'm representing FlexiHub Team - our software is developed to manage any USB device over network (Wireless and others). Maybe this instructions http://www.flexihub.com/remote-android-factory-reset.html or this http://www.flexihub.com/usb-over-wifi.html would help ? Feel free to ask any questions about FlexiHub in our subreddit /r/flexihub/

Here's how I do it:

  1. Plug device into computer
  2. Run adb devices to ensure it's connected
  3. Run adb tcpip 5555 (any port number not in use)
  4. Run adb connect [ip]:5555
  5. Disconnect and enjoy!
