My MiBox remote volume functions doesnt work on 5.1 audio in Netflix, is there a way to force non-5.1 audio for every title automatically or do I need to do it manually per title?

If you are using a AVR and have set the Mi Box Digital sounds (settings > sound > digital sound) to HDMI then you are setting it to passthrough. This is normal.
You can try changing the setting from HDMI to PCM and see if that solves things.
