Wondering if the new update to the NBC sports app ruined the casting function. I can cast YouTube videos easily, but when I try to cast anything from the NBC sports app my TV will show the NBC logo, load for about three seconds then go black and then disconnect from the TV.
I'm using a MiBox and an iPhone for casting.
I'm using a Shield TV, but Casting from my iPhone has been working perfectly for me for the entire Crystal Palace match today.
I just tried from my Shield TV and it seems to work just fine. The app does look like garbage though.
Sounds similar to the issues I have with the Canadian Chromecast apps for CTV and CBC networks.
To me it seems the DRM the stream uses just don't work for some reason. Just network logos and eventually the app kicks out and it plays on my device again.
My gen1 Chromecast, Nexus player, and shield work fine with these apps.
I had best success with 454 update and 1.17 Chromecast app. After the 5xx update I couldn't uninstall below version 1.21. I'm hoping the nougat update that's nearing fixes this, there is no end user solution besides downgrading and disabling playstore updates.
I'm having issue casting to the Shield TV from my Android app. Whenever the game cuts to commercial the app gets stuck at the purple screen and I have to recast and watch the commercial before it works again..
The NBC sports app has never worked well casting for me from any device. It was a nightmare during Olympics last year. Seemed to be a bit better during football season but still not great.
