Shield TV v2 Amazon Video not getting Dolby passthrough

So I recently acquired an Nvidia Shield TV v2 and I must say that i have been impressed so far. Even on crappy Australian ADSL the streaming through Netflix and YouTube is excellent.

Anyway, I got a free trial of Amazon Video and signed into the App. Watching the Man in the High Castle and the video is streaming nicely at 1080p but audio seems to be Stereo only. There appear to be no settings for audio pass through in the app. Netflix and Kodi pass out surround without any problems.

Any idea on how to solve this? I did a search but there is very little.

Can you describe your setups connection? How is your shield/tv connected? Sound bar/receiver? What models?

It's an apparent bug in the amazon app. Whenever I want to watch something on Amazon, I fire up the app, immediately exit, then fire the app again and get 5.1. Have no idea why you have to start the app twice before getting 5.1, but it works.
