My recently purchased SHIELD TV v2 seems to work well in general but I am having problems with the stick remote. Quite often presses on the buttons will do nothing for a while and then start working again. The microphone seems very poor as well with the voice recognition being very spotty, far worse than I am used to with my Nexus 6p phone.
The Android phone remote and big controller work fine.
I have not seen any low battery warnings, but am not discounting this.
Any ideas?
Not just the v2, but all shield controllers have a microphone problem. V1 controller, v1 remote and I just gave up on using the voice input. For times when I have to, I use the android remote app on my phone. I blame it on poor craftsmanship.
Are you using 2.4ghz wifi? I've had this issue with both the shield v2 and the Nexus player. Switch to 5ghz, or use Ethernet.
Does your remote have batteries if so the one that came with it are not so good there are many posts where replacing the batteries fixed alot of problems.
I just purchased the 2017 version and had issues as well. Something's I did were factory reset, re-pair the device and move it away from any interference.. I think my Apple TV was causing the issue .. ever since I moved it, it's worked great.
Its because the remote goes to sleep after not using it for a bit, so it needs to "wake up" before you see the buttons starting to work.
It really is amazing how bad the remote is but how great the controller works.
