nVidida Shield (2017) Netflix HD Streaming Issue

by SubElement

I'm having issues streaming HD content on Netflix on the Shield 2017, via ethernet and WiFi.

If I play the same content on my PS4 Netflix (also ethernet) it's totally fine.

For the love of my I can't figure out what's going on. I've replacing the ethernet cable in case it was that some how, no dice.

Any ideas?

I had a similar bizarre issue with my FireTV. In my case, the issue was ultimately due to the fact that the FireTV had a more advanced network stack and was connecting to Netflix over ipv6 instead of ipv4 like my other devices, combined with the fact that my ISP (CenturyLink fine) has very bad peering congestion connecting to Netflix over ipv6. I added a rule on my router to block all ipv6 to the FireTV which forced it to use ipv4, and the problem was solved- Netflix was perfect again.

What is the issue you see? Stutter, buffering, audio, quality?

You could try reloading your device from their factory images. Might reset a setting somewhere that got messed up. I don't remember exactly where they are on Nvidia's site, but I've used them myself to clear up strange issues before.

Uninstall the updates, something in the latest one broke it. Mine would stop loading completely, rolled it back and it's working now.
