Suggest start page websites for your country on Puffin TV browser!

by wangpy

Hello all,

I am the developer who is responsible of the Puffin TV browser in CloudMosa Inc.

We have already seen some recent posts of positive feedback about the app and we really appreciate them! We want to provide a web browser which is fast and user-friendly on the TV device, so we made Puffin TV to provide our blazing fast web browser technology in your living room, and designed it to be easy to use with just the voice remote control.

As Puffin TV is now officially available on Google Play (TV) store worldwide, we are creating start page bookmarks for more countries in the world to let users enjoy the best websites suitable for TV before they find their own ones. While we are collecting some "standard" popular websites for different languages / regions, we are also interested in hearing if you got anything particular to recommend for your countries!

If you are already using Puffin TV with any of your favorite websites, or you want to see if any websites appear on Puffin TV's start page, post it here and let us know!

Feel free to let us know your country, (i.e. UK) and the websites you want to recommend, but please notice that:

  • We will definitely love to put websites suitable for "everyone of all ages and genders" in the family - which of course includes teens and children.

  • We won't put websites with inappropriate content or piracy contents, of course.

  • Please understand we will reserve the final rights to decide the final website list to put on Puffin TV start page for the countries.

Thanks again for your love for Puffin TV, and Happy browsing on your Android TV device!

hello i enjoy you app and have 1 suggestion if that's ok (not a start page). can you have the app 'remember' scroll mode if it was last used? i use scroll mode 90% of the time and the mouse pointer the other 10%. right now i have to hit back button then turn it on every time. it would be easier if it just stayed on whatever option you left it on when you exit the app.

Why not just allow users to set up their own start pages to fit their individual needs? Just put a designated amount of empty blocks, and let us fill them in with what sites we want. Also, a regular URL bar at the top of the screen and a integrated adblocker would be a godsend. I am not a fan of the push to puffin tv QR code thing, as you need to get out another device just to get the link or use google search, which doesn't always bring up a search result for more exact links. So instead of just typing in a specific url, I gotta google the site, and then find the exact page that I was looking for within the site....which can be a pain in the butt with a remote (same with dealing with popup and other adds). Not to mention everytime I scan the QR code, it always shows up as expired on my tablet. And one more thing, the download option through the browser is still a bit buggy. Whenever I try to download something that isn't small in size, it will cut out before the download is able to finish and just leave me with a corrupt file. Maybe integrate a download manager into it or something.

Anyways, your browser is the best out there for android tv, imo, so this isn't me bashing on your product or anything. Just some constructive criticism that I think if implemented, your browser would blow every other one out of the water.

Does puffin TV work pretty much like chrome? Can I download files from github.com onto my device with Puffin?

Having option to type straight into a search bar would be good s week as the voice search. Currently have to voice search then alter the text if it isn't correct.

Top pages for new zealand would be trademe. Co.Nz and stuff.co.nz

But I think we should be able to create our own start pages of we can't already.

Also I would like to be able to long press on a image to save it like in chrome

"everyone of all ages and genders"

You're overdoing it if you plan to include all 96 genders. I'd just stick to the top 6 or so.
