That's panel uniformity.
Light bleed is when you can see white light coming out from the edges, because the screen isn't properly affixed to/flush with the housing. Hence, the light is 'bleeding' out.
Sounds like this is an issue with the TV.

That looks like my shitty tcl 4k tv
I had this problem with a Samsung 2012 smart TV. Luckily I had an extended warranty through asurion(or whatever the default warranty from Amazon was) and they sent someone out to inspect the TV. The tech said it was a defect and can't be repaired. They cut me a check for the original price of the TV a month later.
Do you think I'd be able to get it replaced under warranty or even returned? I'm thinking of just purchasing an OLED LG 2016 series tv worst case and hook a shield up to it
Return.
Yes. My 0.02
That's a sign of poor black uniformity. RTings has some info about it and the causes. Ultimately it comes down to spending more $ on a higher quality TV to get blacks that are actually close to black.
If you exchange the TV you'll probably get one with a different but still somewhat splotchy pattern. In the interim you could turn the "backlight" setting down some and that will probably improve your viewing in the dark.
