I can't speak to your specific issue, but I have always had trouble casting to my Mi Box. It seems that the latest version update has improved it, but overall the Cast features seem very inconsistent.

Chromecasting on any Android TV device will never be as good as a True Chromecast device it seems.

I had the same exact issue try factory reset several times and nothing changed. My Nexus player didn't do that. My Chromecast doesn't do that. So I returned the mi box.
If your browser had tabs, go to a different one. Yeah, weird, but that fixed my green line issue on v750? Whichever was the one after 699 but before 1004
