[TV] Xiaomi's Mi Box 3 VS their 3S Chinese Variant

by geebn

Hello all, I just wanted to confirm a few things with people who actually own a 3s. Ive been searching for a while and all I found was press releases for the product hitting the stores.

I just want to know the real difference between the standard Walmart/International Version and the Chinese 3S Variant. ( i hate bullets too i just want to make everything look a little cleaner though)

  • Wanted to ask if the remote on the 3S is actually without a mic and with IR instead of Bluetooth?

  • ..And if the 3S variant does support Widevine DRM for 4K Netflix and has built-in Chromecast?

  • And what is with the whole "Patch Wall" AI Features Xiaomi only explained in a chinese video?

  • One last clarification, the '-H' suffix on the Amlogic processor is just to show that Dolby and DTS licenses are already payed off only right? , thats what cnxsoft only say at least!

Leanback Launcher isnt much of an issue, I can probably mod my way through it.

Sorry for all the questions, I made a mistake in ordering a generic S912 box that not only had to be reflashed twice a month already, but also came with the least appealing launcher ever and 480p netflix from their mobile app,as much as i feel like im downgrading in performance, i cant really afford a shield and would rather go for the most budget option that isnt a generic box, not again please.

Buy one at your peril. None of your bullet points met.

MDZ-16-AB is the only sensible choice.

Yup like kosherguy said, anything other than MDZ-16-AB, don't expect it to function as "Android TV" operating system. You have no other choice but to pay at least USD $69 to get a device that runs the legitimate os which this subreddit is about. The rest are just regular android boxes.
