"Open Google Chrome" allows for install on AndroidTV

So i was considering sideloading Google Chrome on my ShieldTV a couple of months back but never got it done. Last night i was relaxing on the couch and decided to do a search for something off the home menu. I ended up saying "Open Google Chrome", which is NOT installed, out of curiosity and noticed that after i did that, it opened a prompt from the Play store to install Chrome on my ShieldTV. I ended up doing just that.

Anyone else notice that you can do this? I wonder what else we can bypass the regular AndroidTV Play store and have installed.

You don't need to sideload it though. You can go to Google play Store on pc and just click install to your shield.

Wow, it really did work! How is that possible?

Edit: it runs crappily though and is basically unusable without a mouse. "Chrome isn't responding" also appears basically all the time.

Yes for well over a year as another pointed out used to access Amazon Prime that way
