When I connect my MiBox to HDCP 2.2 port on my TV I get (presumably this port is 2.2 only):
HDCP Level: unprotected
HDCP Max: 1.x
However when I connect to other ports I get
HDCP Level: 1.x
HDCP Max: 1.x
With unprotected, obviously netflix doesn't work. In 1.x protected it works, but it will only give me 1080p output, correct? I don't care about 4K output from netflix, I don't even have that plan; but do I lose anything else? I noticed I cannot set kodi to anything above 1080p, but doubt they check for HDCP?
Does anyone have 2.2 working at all?
Edit:
When I set the MiBox to use 4K2K@60Hz and connected to hdcp 2.2 port it finally appears to support hdcp 2.2
So:
- normal port, 1080p: hdcp 1.x works
- hdcp 2.2 port port, 1080p: hdcp unprotected
- hdcp 2.2 port, 4k: hdcp 2.2
in short, I was stupid for not testing that. But I think it's kinda counterintuitive when HDCP 2.2 port ONLY supports HDCP 2.2, and ONLY in 4K mode. But lesson learned.
Missing info.....Does your TV claim to be a 4K (UHD) device with HDCP 2.2?
Xiaomi MiBox MDZ-16-AB is endowed with proper security licenses and DRM to support DHCP requirements up to 2.2, which level is totally dependent on your TV.
You are incorrectly attributing HDCP characteristics to your TV that don't pertain. It clearly supports HDCP 1.X on at least 1 of your HDMI ports. Since your TV only allows for 1080 resolution, you are getting the expected readings, and your TV properly employs HDCP 1.x.
If DHCP is faulty or missing on your TV, MiBox cannot magically coax the TV into a mode your TV does not implement.
Mibox is passively reporting the responses it receives from your TV.
That info is of great interest to Netflix for successful streaming at HD or UHD resolution.
The ultimate determination is in the hands of Netflix. MiBox just relays info it receives from querying your TV.
You should have smooth sailing with streaming Netflix but at a max of 1080 resolution, provided you use the correct HDMI port.
Kodi is an entirely different animal ...
