Android 6.01 - Sony tv

by lixenstrand

It finally arrived and seems to have fixed a lot of bullshit from the 6.0 update. 😁🙏

I think we need a subreddit section for androidsonytv.

Unfortunately 3D is still broken on the 65" 930d. Was hoping the new update would fix it :(

I wonder if there's any way to develop software to manually tweak the way the 3D signal is being sent. Basically, you need to adjust the shutter length, or make sure it's inserting black frames every other frame to avoid the crosstalk. I'd love it if there could be software to adjust these things, but I'm guessing it would need root and I would have no idea how to do that with a tv.

Yeah two weeks ago I would agree with you but after this update I'm pretty happy with Sony again.. They are definitely delivering to my standards of them. You can download the update manually you know, plug in the USB and go in to settings and go to update and the TV fix the test

I just updated (PKG3.865.0136NAB), took about 15 mins on model XBR-65X810C. However the 'Home' screen is blank. I can still get to apps via the 'Discover' button but no access to Android TV settings or other home screen content. Anyone else run into this?

I manually updated my Sony XBR65X850D to 6.01 last week sometime after purchasing the TV with 5.X.

Two days ago, I decided to tweak the Picture Settings from the Action Menu while using my Xbox1 via HDMI 1. My screen froze and then the TV rebooted. After reboot, I could access the Action Menu without an issue to finish my TV Calibration.

1 day ago, I tried to access the Action Menu while in Android TV. The TV froze and then rebooted shortly after. After rebooting I could access the Action Menu just fine.

Anyone else had this happen to them?

Anybody else still having problems with Judder?

I've got a 65" 4k Sony (I forget the model number), a 4k receiver, and an Nvidia Shield TV.

Every once in a while, the picture on the TV goes wonky, as if the TV were displaying frames out of order occasionally; it starts off slight at first and then slowly gets worse and worse until it's a huge dumb mess.

The only thing that fixes it is turning the TV off then on, or switching inputs. Based on search hits, it seems like a fairly prevalent problem, but no fixes in sight. I was really hoping the 6.0 update would fix it, but it does not seem to have.

The only idea I've had (but haven't tried yet) is to wire the shield directly into the TV instead of through the receiver, then use ARC to get the audio back out.

And for those who ask why I have a shield and a TV running Android - the TV's UI is slow is a balls and it annoys the hell out of me. I also like to be able to replace my 'content provider' devices more regularly than the TV itself.

One of the major promises of the new update is that one can expand the internal memory via USB port. Anyone has done so? If yes, what device (usb thumb drive, hard drive...) and could you able to transfer the the apps and data to new drive?
