Here is the pitiful question....

**"I have upgraded to Nougat beta. DRMinfo shows HDCP "Level Unprotected"

When HDCP 2.2 handshaking fails it should default to HDCP 1.x for Widewine DRM purposes, shoudn't it?! I do not need 4k, just 1080p but even this is impossible.

There is nothing between mibox and the TV, I'm also using the HDMI cable that came with the box.

Is there a way to root the device and trick it into thinking it has HDCP?"**

+_+_+_+_+_+_ Reply follows....

"The MiBox has all the assets it needs to support any level of DRM required.

You are missing the point, DRMINFO is reporting the particulars of your TV, as generated by queries from the MiBox.

MiBox is not able to magically endow your TV with missing HDCP support."

While I understand the TV determines the DHCP information the Mi Box receives, there are bad boxes out there. I tried everything with my Mi Box to no avail. Contacted support. They told me to take mine back to the store under warranty. Got a new Mi Box. No issues at all.

If someone is experiencing Netflix issues, there's no additional equipment between the Box and TV, and and other devices play Netflix with no issue.... personally from my experience I'd recommend to return your Box for a new one before wasting any more time troubleshooting your TV.

With a different Mi Box, Netflix works without issue and I couldn't be happier.

I don't think we need threads like this to ridicule people asking naive question. These individuals are already frustrated because they can't make netflix to work. You're just confusing these individuals making them look dumb or doesnt know anything about the box they bought.

Make sure your resolution on the MiBox is not set at 4k. Set it manually to 1080p60, reboot and try the DRMinfo app again. The Nougat beta didn't change anything in regards to this issue

well what's wrong with the question? As we all know there are mi boxes that are really having HDCP issues. I got 2 out of 6 boxes that are bad and had to return it. You keep on advising that there's a fault with the TV.. I have 7 television sets the oldest one is like 9-10 years old native resolution is 720p and can accept 1080p and it shows HDCP 1.x. With my working mi boxes 5 of them shows HDCP 1.x and 2 of them HDCP 2.2. Majority of the tv sets being sold supports HDCP.
No need to troubleshoot further because the box is bad.
