Google I/O Schedule - Android TV sessions

The Google I/O Schedule has been expanded on the official website, which can be found here https://events.google.com/io/schedule/

It is nice to see Android TV featured in sessions all three days. I can hope this means good things to come, and perhaps more focus on the platform from Google. Of course, I really hope to hear new things about Android TV featured in the main I/O keynote. Here are the Android TV sessions that I saw listed.

May 17

12pm PST Office Hours: Design guidance on enabling your app for Android Wear, VR, TV and Auto

May 18

10:30am PST What's new for Android TV - "Developers will learn what’s new with Android TV, from recent system enhancements that help users quickly access relevant content, to an overview of new APIs for developers to build apps for Android TV. This session will cover new APIs, features and also upcoming platform enhancements."

6:30pm PST Office Hours: Android TV Office Hours

3:30 PST Android TV: How to engage more users and earn more revenue - "Learn about strategies and techniques for monetization and increasing engagement on Android TV. Hear how new features such as the Google Assistant, recommendations, subscriptions, and more can help seamlessly drive users to your app content, to help you build a happy and engaged user base."

Think we'll see something about Assistant on Android TV at I/O?

It's weird though: they go out of their way to encourage developers to invest effort into porting to Android TV because it's rather lacking on the software side, but they dumped their own investments on the hardware side. Was the Nexus Player so costly to them? As a Dev, I only bought it to test my port ... then became addicted to it as a user. Is that the plan?

Maybe this is a hint we'll see a replacement for the Nexus Player?? The hardware for Android TV is seriously lacking and if Google is putting this much effort in, hopefully they will get a new reference design to keep bringing new customers to the platform!
