Any Google I/O Android TV app announcement?

by andyworld

As mentioned on the Android TV News blog ( https://androidtv.news/2017/04/whats-new-android-tv-session-many-announced-google-io/ ), last year had a few app announcements. Any chance will we get an app announcement this year? What are we looking for? I would like the CW app and a DirecTV Now app personally.

I'd bet on:

  • Google Assistant launch (if this counts as an app)
  • YouTube Kids launch (already announced as "coming soon")

I'd like to see:

  • YouTube TV (Long shot, but be nice)
  • DirecTV Now (Competition / choice is a good thing)
  • Hulu TV (Above. Also, Hulu said it'd be a separate app)
  • Sprout
  • USA Network
  • NBC Sports
  • AMC

I want, but not holding my breath:

  • Universal Search Support for more apps, esp Vue, Sling, & various channel apps
  • TBS
  • TNT

It'll be a cold day in hell, but why not:

  • Amazon Video (For the entire platform)
  • CBS (Not All Access; login w Vue or cable credentials like phone/tablet)
  • NBC

not an app but I'm hoping they implement network storage options for the DVR feature, that would go a long way in making Android Tv a whole home DVR solution along with more advanced features like padding and ignoring duplicates for live tv

Google Photos is expected to arrive, but knowing Google...

Google Assistant and YouTube Kids I'm betting on. YouTube TV I'd say is possible.

Last year there were some third-party announcements, although I couldn't guess as to what those would be.
