Use Android TV remote to turn on the TV

by dmachop

I just bought a Mi box (Moved from Apple TV) and was wondering if there's a way to turn on the TV using the Mi box remote ( Counterpart in Apple) .

EDIT: Solved !

It is possible to do this natively if your TV supports CEC. Look around in your TV settings to see if it is there, or Google your TV model name and CEC. Once you turn on the feature, turning on the Mi Box should turn on the TV. It works on my Shield for on and off. CEC also supports volume control too, but I prefer my IR controls. Good luck.

Yes, What TV do you have?

I have the Shield and can turn on my AVR and TV only using the little shield remote using CEC. Likewise when I put it in sleep mode it turns off both the AVR and TV.

Strange I have 5 miboxes and non of them turn on any of my TVs, all different brands and cec equipped.

We have a SONY and you can turn on your TV using the Mi's remote by pressing the "O" button that's in the middle + Power button. SONY's TV remote also controls the Mi Box UI when changing apps.

The volume control is separated, when the Mi goes to sleep, the TV doesnt go to sleep. We havent turned "on" anything in the TV, it was used as it came from retail.
