DTS passthrough problem with Plex and Mi Box

by Silenttap

Is it broken somehow in plex?

My AVR can handle DTS and after tinkering with options I was able to plex play DTS files and I can hear audio and AVR shows DTS logo but the video is skipping fast forward.

With SPMC and Kodi DTS those files work fine, after I found in the settings the options to enable passthrough for different audio formats. I wonder why those were hidden so deep anyways...

Anyway, I rather use Plex than Kodi tbh. But atm I must watch movies with DTS with Kodi :(

Why don't Plex simply activate the "external player" function for android TV? Like it is in the regular android app. Then we could just use a player that isn't broken...

Mi box does not function how you want it to. This has been broken on mine since I got it in December. Try another device.

This problem has been well documented. Unfortunately, the only "fix" for now is to use the Plex plug-in for Kodi. Not as aesthetically pleasing as the official app, but works fine.

I too suffer from DTS woes. AVR see's the signal, videos plays in sync for about 10 seconds and then kicks into fast forward mode

I just replaced my AVR that was from 1999 that only had analog inputs & 1 Digital coax and 1 Optical input. thinking the MiBox at time of purchase would pass the Dolby/DTS to the AVR via optical..... but nope that didn't work. Still stuck with it. It worked for this long, but I fell into a good deal at Best Buy for once. It's a entry level Onkyo (TX-SR353) I don't really need anything fancy.

I did notice that Plex doesn't like to pass ACC 5.1 but AC3 5.1 (could be a setting if anyone wants to correct me please do) just transcodes to stereo.

Just wanted to share.
