I recently bought a Sony X900E 65" yesterday.
The youtube app only goes to to 1080p, the TV is saying ts is updated.
Anything I'm missing or does the youtube app not allow 4K or HDR?

It should allow for 4k, are you sure the video you are trying to watch is actually 4k?
Hey if you want to be friends I have my X600E coming Sat... My first one was open box and alas it had a dead pixel.
Did you enable the HDMI enhanced format? HDMI port 2/3?
I'm gonna need to figure it out come this weekend.
Was it a recently uploaded video? Often, it will take a lot longer for the full 4k version to show up on your TV. No idea why -- just something I've noticed. Search some old 4k videos.
Your TV has the X1Extreme processor, so it will have the same features as the top-of-the-line Sonys, none of which have YouTube HDR yet. Sony promised it "later this year." But 4k definitely should work. Also, the update to Nougat just came out today. Enjoy.
