I just wanted a family shared Play Store (credit).
YES. I don't want my kids using all of the streaming apps unsupervised. Multiple users will help me keep them confined to just the kids programs on my home server.
I agree!
I think this would confuse it more, many apps already support their own profiles (plex, netflix, etc). So I'm unsure what this additional layer would do other than preferred layout/etc.
having it offer a user picker when it wakes from daydream (Screensaver) (+ some extra timeout) might be nice, in addition to the explicit option on the row, but yeah.
I believe there are far larger things missing on Android TV.
There is no mainstream flagship hardware. For example. Nvidia shield is too niche.
There also isn't a proper PlayStore that is functional.
Sure this would be nice but it may be difficult to get people to back out and switch profiles on the TV.
Didn't Android 7 for TV announce multi-user support? http://www.flatpanelshd.com/focus.php?subaction=showfull&id=1471958919
My Sony Android TV upgraded last week along with everyone else and they didn't add multi accounts which was disappointing, in my house we have separate YouTube accounts we would like to switch between them like on the Nivdia Shield .
In theory, I like this idea.
In reality, I've tried this kind of thing with my wife in the past, and she isn't a fan of having another impediment to watching TV.
