Can Android TV learn an IR remote?

by vinecellar

Just read over here that my Xiami Mi Box apparently came with an IR receiver - who knew! I was wondering if I could ditch its remote and use the "dumb" one that came with my TV.

I already snooped around a little bit here and there, but couldn't find anyone talking about a "learn remote" type of feature that my Apple TV 3 has . So I thought maybe you guys had any ideas on how I could do that. It wouldn't matter if I had to mess around a bit as I am familiar with Android. That's a far more preferable route for me than using something like Flirc on a relatively well rounded box.

Edit: Flirc, not Flicr.

I use mine with a harmony 650 you can find them on sale in the $30 to $40 range.

It's a pain in the ass to find the codes (trial and error). Easiest is to use a Harmony remote.

It has every available IR command, even the unknown commands that are read by the mi box but appears to do nothing.

It also has page up and down, menu, and a few others not on the original remote.

With CEC , your TV's remote would already be able to control the d-pad, Enter, Play/Pause, etc. but nothing would be mapped for voice search.

Unfortanly none of the atv devices don't come with an ir remote so I'm not sure where you would teach it from
