Were you around when nVidia Shield first came out? One year later still suffered from serious performance and reliability issues,
What issues are you having that would be resolved with Nougat?
Ok.. your money, your choice.
The only use I found for Nougat is the task switcher. Other than than MM runs fine for me. IMHO after Google I/O's announcements, what I'm looking for is Google Assistant and the new launcher which I think will be implemented on MM anyway.
It's an Android TV box. Nougat will not change a thing about what apps I use on it or how those apps work. Android version is kind of irrelevant on a dedicated device like this IMO. Not worried about it at all.
If you think Nougat is going to make your Mi Box automatically the best box out there, you are in for a rude awakening.
It works fine right now. Nougat won't change that.
Go sell your stuff on ebay and begone!

While it works as is, I still itch quite a bit for the latest and greatest software. Stability and performance improvements are always welcome. And at this point, getting Google Assistant would have me over the moon.
I'd like multi user support
I'm not losing sleep over it. It will get here when it gets here.
I sideloaded the beta nouget image, it has been running great! there was a second release for bugs that I have yet to seen.

It does what I need to do. Not hard up on not having nougat
I feel great about it because I sold mine, bought a Shield and haven't looked back. I am sad I don't have my Nexus Player anymore though...
The beta runs fine, not sure what your expecting... wish they'd just allow the bootloader to be unlocked.
I currently have 7.0 on my MiBox right now with no issues, I am however on the beta channel since I'm one of the beta testers for the product.
Have you ever owned an Android product? You got to wait for updates and until a new Nexus comes out (or buy the old), your waiting. If it bothers you then switch to Apple or Amazon.
Beta is out now and you'll get it soon. Not a big difference like O will be.
I would be happy with working Netflix over nougat.
I feel indifferent. It plays all my stuff, emulates all the games I want and runs fine.
So ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ I guess.
