Bravia Software Update to 7.0

by emptyfisch

I just got prompted to upgrade earlier, turns out it is 7.0 . I have the XBR-x43800 if that makes a difference to anyone. The settings menus are now vertical, and overall the TV seems much more responsive. It had so much input lag prior to this I was debating getting another media box.

I hope it's not only the 2016+ models getting the update. I have a 2015 model. :/

A quick look up your TV on Sony Support there is reference to the update link to sony With a link to an article titled "After updating to Android OS7(N), screen and text of the computer displayed on the TV become small and difficult to see." But I can't get it to load.

A quick google shows that the XD70, XD80 and the XE80 all have references to this same article but again, I can't get any of them to load. Google search linky Is this possibly another Sony "Whoops we screwed up an update again" ??

Edit: Harder google searches suggest that the following all have links to the dead article.

  • X80

  • X85

  • X90

  • XE94

  • XE80

  • XD80

  • XD75

  • XD70

  • ZD9

I have the same model. Got the update yesterday. Seems to have fixed the bugs I had with hulu constantly crashing and the weirdness with the Netflix button.

Just wanted to share a tip I picked up from another post on here. If your menu is buggy and slow, enable Developer Options (Settings>About>click Build Number X 7) Back out and scroll down. Select "Developer Options" >Select "Background Processes" and change from "Standard" to "4".

Its made a world of difference on my TV.

I have a late 2016 model and I have the message pop up on the home screen saying update available but when I check for a system update, says you are on latest (no it didn't install already). Been like this 3 days as well, rather annoying.
