Hopefully an easy question. Does anyone know if Sony have different model numbers for the same TV's? For example the model number on mine is KD-55X8500C, however I can't find any real "international" information about it, only some stuff on the Australian site. Is this a different model number elsewhere, or is it just not as popular elsewhere and other model numbers are actually different models?
that model as far as I know is also known as X85C variant
The model numbers even change with the screen size to make the biggest screens more outstanding and cool.
The first identifier also changes with region. So your KD is, if I recall correctly, an European model. The American region is XBR. I can't quite recall the other regions tho. But the second identifier is also unique to each region. European models are often named as "55X8505C" or "55XD8505". American models on the other hand are "55X850C" or "55X85D". Since Europe has more different regions the "X8505C" sometimes becomes different after the first 2 digits. (such as 55X8509C or X8507C for different regions or exclusive retailer models).

Yes, they are different for the same TV's, I have the X8505C, which in the US is the X850C. I think yours is also the X850C :)
