Alternative youtube apps/mi box 7.0 update

My main use for my android tv box is to watch youtube and netflix. The netflix app is great, but the youtube app is pretty garbage. You can't keep browsing while you watch a video, and you can't remove a video from the watch later playlist. Are there any good alternative apps that allow this or any work arounds to do this? Also, has there been anymore news of the update to 7.0 for the mi box? I saw that someone in the beta program had the update in april but I haven't seen any news since.

I use the standard Android mobile app (not the TV one). works fine if you have a mouse.

The update on Mi Box is on beta 3, I believe. Generally 3rd or 4th are the last, so should be soon.

Smartyoutube app sideloaded. Works a dream but maxes out at 1080p.

New YouTube app was spotted in the Android TV presentation at Google I/O. Shouldn't be long (hopefully).

Not sure on the Mi Box update. Should have been out months ago. Its in beta still.
