[Same TV Different Region] Is it possible to install the firmware update from a Sony X800D, to an X8000D?

Hi Everyone,

These are all the same TV, they're just named differently in different regions. The kd-43x8000d and the kd-43x800d are both the exact same TV. However in Australia ( Asia Pacific Region ) the Android Nougat Update is still not out and I have been waiting over two weeks for it. We're stuck on the last update from the 30th of November 2016.

However in the United States, the update has already been released:

So I have two questions . Can I download the update from the US, copy it onto a USB, and plug it into my TV and update it to Nougat? And would this void the warranty for my TV if it does work?

Unfortunately you cannot. As a European I tried doing this a week ago and it rejected the file.

I was expecting I'd be waiting a while until they released the update in Europe but I was pleasantly surprised to see it this morning on the Sony website and have now updated without flaw.

My advice would be just to be patient. US and Canada got it about two weeks ago, now it's being rolled out in Europe and I suspect Australia will soon follow.
