Mounting the mi box to the back of the TV?

by BillDino

Anyone try this? I am thinking about just using a 3m strip and putting it on the back of the TV

I've used zip ties, velcro, and elastics. They all werent mi boxes but very similar size and weight.

Elastics need to be checked for cracking, they eventually rot especially if you're TV is not well vented. Zip ties can slip if You're moving the set around a lot. Velcro is expensive and the most permanent, get the good 3M stuff. If you want to be fancy or see the front of it you can get a Kinect for 360 mount and affix to that, the mi box will be atop the tv and level.

If you hide it behind the TV will remote control function be impacted?

Walmart has a thing that let's it sit on top of the TV. It's ten bucks I think.

I just used regular velcro on mine. It's held up fine so far.

Yes. I have mine mounted behind the TV. I've used zip ties only. I've put the box next to the lower edge of the panel facing downwards so the IR light reflects off of my wall under the TV.

I've also previously had this setup for Apple TV 3, which only uses IR and have had no problems in several years of use, even with a plain old weak dumb remote that came with my TV (ATV3 can learn remotes).
