Roblox and other games on Android TV

by stuckat1

I just side loaded Roblox for my MiBox. I had to use a Bluetooth keyboard, mouse and joystick to play this game. Actually, you only need the keyboard to sign-in the first time you play. You don't need it going forward.

That said, you definitely need a joystick AND a mouse to play. Some of the menu navigation must be done with a mouse.

Instead of having my kid use 3 BT devices to play this game, anyone know of a slightly more elegant solution for this blue tooth device hell? Is there a joystick with keyboard and touch surface built in or something?

Never played Roblox but Minecraft will work out of the box with a controller.

I tried the same as you. The game doesnt work out of the box with a controller, even though I have seen navigation tips for controller. I was able to use some basic navigation, like reaching an in-game menu and so on. But actually entering the game wasnt possible. Mouse didnt work and the same for keyboard. I had thought that the mouse would act as a finger on touch screen, but that isnt the case. I really hope Android TV will be supported better, either by keyboard/mouse and controller, since that is a great way to play the game.

Edit: after looking a bit into the subject, it looks like the game was supported by controllers in Android, but some update killed it. Hopefully it will be fixed. It also seems that developers have to program their games for controller support, and there are a few that dont do that. So its up to each individual game developer to add support.
