Is there any way to use Amazon Prime Video on the Android TV?

by krmax44

I tried multiple Kodi solutions, APKs from Fire TVs and Sony Bravia TVs, but nothing works for me.

Is there any way of getting this to work? I have a Nexus Player and live in Germany (EU).

Thank you!

(No, Chromecasting your screen is not a solution )

Get Shield TV

Not going to happen. The Nexus player has an x86 based processor and the prime video apps are made for arm processors. All other Android TV or fire TV hardware is arm so there is not an x86 version.

Amazon is a little bitch. That's why even though I am a prime video member, I tend to torrent their shows so I can watch them in my Roku TV upstairs, not just my Shield in the main TV

I have a Bravia with the official Prime player and I didn't realise they restrict the Amazon Prime player from running on other AndroidTV devices? Seriously? WTF?

This again? Sideload Chrome, request desktop mode, log into Prime Movies & see if it works for you, too..?

You'll need an air mouse or mouse & keyboard of some sort. F key toggles fullscreen.

There used to be an app called Prime Video Launcher, but it got C&D'd by Amazon. If you look around, maybe you can find it. Good luck.

Probably your easiest solution is to pick up a cheap Amazon Fire TV stick and just use that for Prime stuff.

You could probably get a used first-gen model for next to nothing, even a new second-gen stick is pretty cheap.

I've got Prime on my Bravia TV and Shield, but to be honest when I want to watch something off Prime I'll generally just use my old Fire Stick as the interface to Prime content is much better (and it supports Amazon photos and Prime music too).
