I recently bought a Mi Box 3 4K. Side loaded the speedtest app and found that the internet speeds are much slower than expected. This leads to buffering issues (of a miserable 1 mbps) when running a vpn.
I have a gigbit fiber connection and I'm only getting 70+ mbps out of it. When running speed test on my 4 years old Samsung phone from the same spot, I'm getting close to 200mbps.
What gives? Why am I getting so much slower speeds despite the mi box having wireless AC? Any ideas?
I hooked up a USB 3.0 ethernet dongle and was getting around 250 mbps download and 25 mbps upload. That's about half of my current peak speed for both.
If your wifi is having issues, grab a USB 3.0 ethernet dongle.
