Downloading torrents to NAS using Nvidia Shield

by racingmachine

Hello, i've been using my Shield tv to download torrents remotely via the t torrent app. The default saving directory is set to a folder in the internal storage but i would like to set it to a folder in NAS mounted to my Shield. When i try to do this i get a message that the folder is read-only and that i have to grant permission to the app to write on the NAS. The problem is that i am not able to access the root directory of my NAS (only it's sub folders) and therefor can't grant write permission. I think that's the problem but i'm a bit lost... Can anyone help?

Does your NAS have its own torrent downloader? My synology nas does and u can connect with an app from a phone. Nice and eeasy, straight to the NAS itself.

What is the filesystem of the NAS- is it NTFS? How are you mounting the NAS to the Shield? Are you accessing it as a Windows share using SMB /CIFS? What is the path to the NAS (what's the path to the "default saving directory")?

You may have to mount the NAS with read-write permissions. Using any other app, like a text editor- can you save a simple new file to that "default save directory?" On Linux machines you can change mount options using the configuration file /etc/fstab. I don't know how it's done on Android (especially if you don't have root).
