How to access volume amplification on Kodi 17 /w Nvidia shield

Hi guys, I'm trying to figure out how to access the volume amplification on the shield with kodi 17. I have it installed on my phone and i know during the video you can just click the gear icon on the bottom right corner of the screen to adjust it, but on the shield, i cant get the gear icon to come up, when i click any direction on the D pad, it just fast forward or rewinds the movie, and when i click any other key it does nothing.

I suppose the default keymap for the Shield remote causes left and right on the D-Pad to behave as Media Rewind and Media FastForward instead of Left Arrow and Right Arrow? You want to install a file manager and create a keymap.xml. http://kodi.wiki/view/keymap

Actually, there's an addon that will create the file for you interactively as you press buttons: http://kodi.wiki/view/Add-on:Keymap_Editor

Have you tried the volume up and down buttons?

Try temporarily plugging a usb mouse in and click it that way. You might have to enable advanced settings in Kodi to get the menu up though.
